Welcome To My World

Welcome to the world. It sucks, that’s true. But it’s all free for the taking. Let’s go take it.

Heavy

As snow fell down upon the heavy forest

The stone fell in my heart

To a heavy place familurly comfortable

The heavy so commonplace by now that if  it sat heavy enough in my heart it would hurt just right

Brick Wall

My brick wall first appeared in first grade

I long for my brick wall

The one that unearthed itself at lunch

When thoughts of baggy pants and butts got a hold of me

The nice lunch lady approaching

Glances at Caroline and I know it’s her

My brick wall appeared along with red hot cheeks

I long for my brick wall

Why did I let you tear it down?

Telephone poles

As we drive past the telephone poles

we chat in the car

returning books to the library

questions arise

who am I

I whisper

and I get an answer:

I’m just a kid too scared to live in the real world

I’m just a kid too scared to live in the real world

I’m just a kid too scared to live in the real world

live in the real world

live in the real world
